Olsson block installation instructions

The instructions at 3dverkstan are so much better than my instructions - just click here for installation instructions: http://support.3dverkstan.se/article/62-installing-the-olsson-block-kit

Threads too tight / can't screw on steel coupler

Some people have reported threads too tight. There's nothing wrong with the threads but some couplers have some build up (or warp?) after a while. New ones from Ultimaker or from my store work fine. However I can send you a free replacement if you have any trouble with the threads. I have an adjustable die and can cut the threads a tiny bit more (makes a huge difference!). Just let me know and I will send you a new Olsson block plus a mailer to return the "bad" one.

Check Temp Sensor for fit

Before installing into steel coupler check that temp sensor fits at least 2/3 in (it's okay if quite a bit sticks out - in fact this is good as then you can remove it a year later using pliers on the metal portion. If not take the largest drill bit you have that fits loosely in the hole (e.g. 3/32). Put the drill bit in a drill, stick the drill into the temp sensor hole, run the drill and move it around to ream out the walls of the hole bigger. Try 30 seconds at a time and then test repeatedly with the temp sensor until it can slide at least half way in. If you don't do this the temp sensor will be cooler than the block and your block will be easily 10C or 15C hotter than you think!

HEATER ERROR

If you get this error it's because the block is somehow touching the fan shroud somewhere. One solution is just to order a 35W heater from my store. But I was able to get a 23W heater to print ABS (245C) with Olsson block no problem so you can too if you make sure the block doesn't touch the fan shroud anywhere - particularly the flat bottom surface of the block. You might have to bend the fan shroud a tiny bit. I didn't have to but I did add a thin strip of kapton tape between the block and the fan shroud. Here's a possibly helpful hint to increase the gap between block and fan shroud.
